About
Airlink was founded in 2006 by Klaus Thalinger who pursued his dream of starting a flying service to get people interested in flying, give Scenic Rides and connect remote places in Maine with urban areas in the United States. Airlink operates a Flight School, Scenic Flights and Flying Service out of the Waterville Lafleur Airport year-round. During summer months Airlink flies two Cessna 172 Seaplanes out of Great Pond Marina in Belgrade Lakes for Scenic Rides and Seaplane Lessons.
Airlink has 3 part-time Flight Instructor/ Pilots that are available for flight instruction 7 days a week, using an online scheduling system. The online scheduling makes phone calls irrelevant and lets everyone know whether the airplane is booked and at what time.
Klaus came to the United States from Austria and after obtaining a degree in aviation at Mercer County College in NJ, went to Florida to fly air charter in the Caribbean. After gaining valuable experience flying the Caribbean Islands Klaus moved to Maine to become Director of Operations of Lake Region Air, a Seaplane Flying Service in Rangeley and came one step closer to becoming a Bush Pilot. In 2006 Klaus joined Cianbro as corporate pilot and still remains employed there while operating his Airlink flying service.
