Private Pilot

We all started where you are now.

Whether you want to fly for business, or just for the sheer thrill of soaring above the ground, it all begins with the initial training. Everyone who flies has started out right where you are now! All it takes is the motivation to get started, and the discipline to see all the way through to completion of training. Aviation is an exciting activity that takes less time and money than you think.

Why learn to fly?

…because flying is one of the most challenging activities you’ll ever experience – and that’s what makes it so rewarding. How about experiencing one of the world’s best views? Flying will take you to places in much less time, and with much more fun.

Intro Flight Lesson

It all starts with an Introductory Flight right here at Waterville, Norridgewock or Rangeley Airport. To your amazement the flight instructor will let you take the controls (and be there to assist you), help you find your house from above, or check out the beautiful sights from 3000 feet in the air.

Who can learn to fly?

Dual instruction (flying with a Certified Flight Instructor) can be given to anyone. To fly an airplane Solo, you must be 16 years of age, and pass a 3rd class Medical exam. To receive your Private Pilot’s license, you must be 17 years of age, accumulate 40 hours of flight time, and pass a written and flight test.

Where do flight lessons take place?

Airlink LLC offers flight training from the Waterville and Norridgewock Airport, year- round. Even if the weather is not great- we can fly our fully instrument equipped aircraft.

What will my Training consist of?

FAA regulations require a total of 40 hours flight time before you can take the private pilot checkride. Our students average 50 hours flight time. Your training program will consist of a mixture of ground and flight training. Ground training prepares you to take your FAA Knowledge test. This test must be passed with at least 70%.

How much does it cost

Our Cessna 172 training aircraft costs $ 110 per hour. If flown Dual (with a Certified Flight Instructor) add $ 40 per hour for the CFI. You will need at least 20 hours Solo and 20 hours with a CFI.
